People who are dumb and proud of it
My Pet Peeve is people who are ignorant, uneducated, bigoted, trashy, red-necks and are proud of the fact that they "don't know nothin' ". This seems to be fashionable right now. They try to bring down everyone else to their level. They absolutely hate people who want to try to learn or do better. If that is what they want to be - I think that is great (not really, but I think they have the right), but don't hate people and try to destroy others because they think and care about issues that you are clueless about.

By lumping whole groups of ...
By lumping whole groups of people together, you are showing how dumb YOU are. My brother is a self-professed red-neck, proud to be, because in his opinion, some of the nicest people he has ever met were what others referred to as red-necks. I was raised in the lovely state of Kentucky, which has a HORRIBLE reputation of producing red-necks, hillbillies, inbred people, but the people that I know in that state are a much nicer, more intelligent group than anyone that I have met in other states (and I've lived in a lot of places!)

Hold up- I'm from Kentucky too, born and raised, and I love my pretty, generally friendly state, but I am here to say there ARE lots of ignorant stupid rednecks here, and I even know an entire inbred family by name. That doesn't mean everyone here is a redneck or inbred (I am most decidedly not), and many of us even have college educations, but YES- in states like Kentucky, among redneck populations, education is sneered at, and intelligent people are classified as non-southern (for some crazy reason). It cannot be denied that education is not high on the list of country-music song topics.

"Pround to be a redneck" is ridiculous. You can be proud of your heritage and hometown and all that. But being proud that you are uneducated and missing teeth and smell like stale ciggerettes and cheap beer AND wet dog. AND then to say you are proud!?! Go right ahead and be proud. And I am proud to laugh at you.

I swear, some people are so ignorant, yet they try to act like they know everything when, in truth, they know absolutely nothing about the topic being discussed. I, myself, am from the great state of Kentucky. I consider myself to be a red-neck and a hillbilly. That being said, I am also a wonderful mother to my two children, work full-time, and I am a full-time college student persuing a degree in Social Services. So, before you say that rednecks and hillbillies don't value an education, think again! I com from a family where we all consider ourselves to be red-necks and hillbillies, but at the same time, my family has always taught the value of a good education. I don't think it matters where you go, you are going to find people who do and do not value education, people who do and do not inbreed, and people who do and do not bathe regularly. So, maybe you should look around your towns a little closer.
