No plastic containers in micro

No water bottles in freezer.

No plastic wrap in microwave...

A dioxin chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently,... Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers...

This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body...
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food... You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.  He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons...

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.
Cover food with a paper towel instead.

I got this in an e-mail!  I don't know what to think!

I've heard this before, ...

I've heard this before, but I rarely use my microwave for reheating or cooking, unless I'm doing popcorn or something like that. My family uses it to reheat, but they use glass dishes. There's probably not much now that doesn't pose the threat of carcinogens. You know the old saying, "What we don't know can't hurt us." Only nowadays that's not really true, is it?

'Tis true. They have a ...

'Tis true. They have a science experiment for children where you take 2 identical plants and water one with tap water and one with water that has been microwaved. http://rense.com/general70/microwaved.htm

That and the estrogen (DDT) that they feed to chickens is linked to an increase in a variety of illnesses from fibroids to breast cancer. They feed estrogen to chickens to make them bigger. Please believe me! Look it up.

We all got to die some ...

We all got to die some day. I rather enjoy my life and die a lil earlier, than live to be 100 and live in a plastic bubble.
But on a serious note watch out when you overheat a new nonstick pan and you have a parrot , thats really dangerous

yep and tomorrow I could cross the street and it could be fatal. Myself I don't worry about any of that stuff, if I did I wouldn't eat drink or get out of the house. So I'd die of dehydration and starvation, or loneliness anyway.

Is it worth the risk? I ...

Is it worth the risk? I find glass to be nice to use, comes perfectly clean, doesn't flop down on one side spilling burning hot food on you or all over your counter or floor, looks much nicer when serving (you can serve right from the container), doesn't slide around when you go to cut something or spoon something out due to being light weight like plastic... There are so many reasons I'll avoid it when I can. It's made from oil products (petroleum distilates I think is the term they use). When I'm rushed once in a while, if it's the only thing around, then I'm not going to lose any sleep over it once in a while just like drinking a soda once in a while. Just don't live off of crap or you'll turn into it. We are what we eat. And you know crap when you see it. Soda is crap. Plastic on your food - crap. Hormones and antibiotics in your meat - crap. Try and avoid it as much as you can and you'll be healthier. It's just too common sensible to argue with. There's always someone who will anyway. But don't listen to them. They don't think right because they've been eating too much crap.

Chicken Little and the ...

Chicken Little and the news media that encourages the Chicken Littles of the world have put us in this dilemma. All the hysteria about so many things that have proven false has undermined the truth. We no longer can be sure if a scare is just that or the real thing.

The news media runs with whatever scary story someone comes up with without investigating it themselves or verifying the credibility of the ranter. The trick usually is to keep you glued to your TV's for the 11 O Clock news. So, they "tease" the story during prime time in a way that intensifies it's possible danger to beat out the "other guy". It's all ratings.

If the story is scary enough, it takes on a life of it's own and will re-appear on the 6:00 news. After a whille it become "fact".

It's really a shame. Our technology should bring us truth not hysteria.
