I am soooooo sick of all you PC people out there, give it a reast already!

I am deaf I am not hearing impaired.

There is nothing wrong with the word cripple.

Ladies if someone calls you a girl don't have cow there is no insult intended, ignore Gloria Aldred. The fact that Gloria looks like a drag queen should tell you everything you should know!

You weren't terminated or let go, you were fired.

I could go on and on but you get the idea!

Similarly, the greeting "Merry Christmas" is not intended as a slur against the beliefs of people who are not Christian.

And this summer, I joked that I had a problem with "undocumented immigrant moths" (gypsy moths) in one of my trees.

rkinne01, thought you might be interested in a Dennis Prager show (radio) concerning deafness. I happened to be listening to this one but the link is to a transcript. There are others who think like this guy Tim.

Caller Tim tries to make a point about deafness not being a disability, but ends up making Dennis' larger societal point.

A few days ago at work there was a minor debate about immigration policy and one of the guys there unthinkingly stated that all immigrants should be sent back to where they came from... Well for one, everyone in America is an immigrant, and two (and this is my personal offense to his statement) I emmigrated about 11 months ago from the UK to America. I was highly offended so I asked him "So you think you should have the right to send me back to England?" He looked at me stunned and I'm not joking on this, said "You aren't an immigrant cause you're not from Mexico!" And that's when it all came down because guess where some of our other partners are from LEGALLY... Oh the stupidity of it all... I am not an alien, I am not an illegal, I certainly didn't swim through anything to get here because the Atlantic Ocean is kind of big. I AM AN IMMIGRANT. Political Correctness be damned.

And calted2... you'd be surprised what I have picked up in the eleven months I have been here.. the word Y'all, the ability to lie without flinching, and the ever importan gigalo. All in the same night. As for the language, I speak English, not American; however, the languages are very similar and easy to translate between.

why do they say they use PC words to make the person the are talking about feel better?? I know alot of people who have various disabilities, and more than half will say No, I am deaf, or blind, or blonde, or what ever it is that they might be disabled with. They was a kid I went to school with, that was classified as mentally retarded, and he would tell you that he was the fastest person in the slow people's class.

BH welcome to the United States. You're absolutely right English and America speak different language due to the whole melting pot concept in America (IMO). I've read a couple autobiographies from British authors and some of the differences are difficult to grasp at first.
