Harry Potter
Not exactly a peeve with Harry, but the peeve is kinda his fault in a round about way. I have read the books...I am trapped in a child's mind......and have seen the movies so far. I have got my 4 year old hooked on the movies, and she will cast a spell on anyone anytime. She wants to go SO bad to go watch Harry Potter, and so do I, BUT what do we do with sweet little Addison and Reesie?? Reesie won't sit still in the theater if the movie is not animation, and well Addison just can't go. Clint is working swing shift, so he can't watch the girls. My stepson wants to go see it, AND Transformers, AND Ratatoullie.....not enough hours in the day! I want to know if anyone has seen it, and if was as good as the book. I have read good reviews so hopefully it lives up to it, but I heard it was real "dark". Would it be to scary for a 4 year old?? Keep in mind her favorite movie right now is Ghost Rider.

Yep seen it. It's really good...even though they left out tons of the book. I think that she might be a little scared...Ghost Rider is probably a little tame next to HP (hehe GR was filmed about 20 from where I live). I reckon still take her along. If she's seen all the other films, this one wont be too bad
When my son was born, his ...
When my son was born, his mother and I didn't trust babysitters (so much all the time in the news about them abusing or killing kids) and we loved being with our son more than anything in the world. Grandparents were helpful but we still wanted to be with the baby and cherish every moment. So we didn't go to movies. They all came out on VHS in a year anyway. We might have seen one or two tops (in the theater) until he was around three or four. And you know, it didn't kill us. We saved money, which was also very important for a young family, just having bought our first home, me starting my business, she having trouble keeping a job for even a year (four times in four years)... Then again, for Harry Potter I think I'd have said to her she can stay home with the kid and I'd go by myself if I had to! Good luck figuring it out. Be patient though, the longer you wait the fewer obnoxious people will be crowding the place and the more you'll be able to enjoy it.

The real pet peeve about anything Harry Potter-related should be that utter and complete crap like the books and movies are so popular, and yet so inappropriate for children.

ratatouille was AWESOME, going to see transformers and harry potter this week. as far as the sitter problem, unless you have somebody you can trust, like your mom, you just have to wait. :(

I'm guessing that Jack hasn't read the HP books or seen any of the movies if he believes that they're "inappropriate for children."

they are kids books. I haven't seen it or read the book (I read the first book, wasn't that into it) but you have read it, so you probably have a pretty good idea of what it's all about. If she liked the last movie and is into ghost rider, I doubt she'll have trouble. I saw Transformers and ratatouille, Trans was ok, ratatouille was good, but there is a couple of scenes involving guns, so it's up to you if that might be appropriate for your kids or not.

I am there with you MNolen. I hae ordered my Harry Potter book, and will see the movie in the next day or two. Do you think Harry will die in the last book?

I still have to order my book....in a way I don't want to, like it will really keep the end from happening.
Jack, when you were little you never pretended you could do magic? I pretended I was a magic witch all teh time, it is called FANTASY! Kids watching the movies that the know are fake are the same thing as them pretending to BE a character. It is called imagination. Have you seen a 10 year old reading a 2 inch thick book with 763 pages before, because they WANTED to? Well then you have never seen a 10 year old reading Harry Potter. Kudos to J.K.Rowling for making kids interested in books again....big thick fat books at that.
I didn't love it I mean it ...
I didn't love it I mean it wasn't what I expected it to be. Alot of the book was either missing or changed and I hate that . I mean I understand it can't be exactly the same but they shouldn't like make so much of it different. My sister has never read the books but loves the movies except this one she didn't think it was all that . Hope that helps MNolen!!

Not that it will help for today, but have you ever considered a Mother's Day Out program? Some churches offer this from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. only (and only for 3 days a week), but some churches offer MDO M-F from 9:00 - 2:00. Just a thought.

madaboutmesses-she said in an interview a long time ago that she made sure that no one can resurect the book later down the road. So I am guessing she killed Harry off. That, to me would be the only way, unless someone starts a series on Ron and Hermoine.
Nestle-our MOD is weird. They want you to attend library outings and things like that with them and your child. Not to drop them off to errands done. I take my kids to the library myself, I would prefer NOT to have a group of kids and parents with me!
