so i read that the house of representatives are getting a 4000$ a year cost of living raise. thats going to give them 170,000$ a year. if your making 166,000 a year already how the f*** can u bitch about cost of living. what do us normal 8-5 working people get..................s***. that really pisses me off. the state of florida says that all state workers arent getting a raise this year. instead we are getting 1000$ bonus on oct.1. isnt a bonus supposed to be tax free. tell them that. we get like 660$ of it. such bulls***

Cuss away! State workers always have a hard time getting respect for what we do. A few years back California gave us an extra day off instead of giving us a cost of living increase for almost a decade. Then we got people yelling and screaming about how unfair it was that they were paying state workers to take a day off. I don't think anyone in private business would put up with that, we get paid less then comparable private jobs, and they take away a little more of our benifits each year. Eventaully they gave us a raise and a "bonus" which was really just a cheaper way then giving us back pay, but took away the day off. All of this took about 3 years to work out. And they complain because no one wants to work for the government. Gee, I wonder why. And I really hate when someone tells me I should do whatever they want because they "pay my salary" with their taxes. I pay taxes too, and I "pay their salary" whenever I do business with a company. Besides, it probably works out to about a 1/2 cent a person, so really they're getting a good deal if I bother to look at them. Sorry, I know it's off topic, but I got on a roll there.

I did the math, it's .0097 cents per person per year for me to do my job. Not that I don't try to do my best and give everything I can to everyone, but when someone throws the fact that my salary comes from taxes in my face I get annoyed, they seem to think that their .0097 cents intitles them to do whatever they want to me. I'm sure people in the private sector get that too, esspecially call center people.

I think their salary is overblown, they're elected to represent us, and I don't think someone who makes that much money and lives the life most of them live really has any idea what someone working for minimum wage wants or needs.
While it's true that people are responsible for their own lot in life, it is very hard to move up for some people, and almost impossible to pay for school for a lot of people. Not everyone has the apitude to do the high paying jobs.

As far as getting paid, you get what you hold out for, work for and are educated for. it is never to late to go back to school and get a new career or better job.
At one time bonus' were to be tax free to the work the companies still had to pay tax on them, now the companies pass this on to the worker. after bonus' comes free turkeys for holiday then nothing at all. i used to work in florida for a big company and that is what happened to us.
