I tried to put more but ...

I tried to put more but they disappeared!

This quote from one of the ...

This quote from one of the articles is utter crap. "The law is designed to make it as easy as possible to put defendants away for as long as possible." Pure ignorance and race driven comment completely lacking truth and accuracy. I am so sick of certain groups thinking, and saying laws and / or the punishments for breaking the laws are designed to make sure certain groups get more severe punishment than others. Punishments assigned to an offense are done so to match the severity of the offense. The reason WHY somebody has committed an offense is of zero importance. What matters is the offense committed. A paper clip can and HAS been construed to be a deadly weapon. It would take very little effort from me, or any person, to jab a straightened paper clip into a jugular vein which would cause grave life threatening danger to the person stabbed. Until you look at it that way, it's hard to imagine a paper clip being a deadly weapon isn't it ? But it can be. So a tennis shoe certainly could, and in this case was, a deadly weapon when it landed many many times upon the head of an unconscious person. Somebody who is knocked out already has a head injury.Kicking the head that is already injured, is nothing shy of murderous behavior because thats the intent.

Now, don't get me wrong. The people who hung the nooses have not, in my opinion, been punished severely enough. What they did was unforgivable and they deserve FAR more then being suspended from school for a couple days. What they did was, as I see it, is a hate crime However understandable, the anger of the Jena 6 and the stupid shit the noose hangers did, does not in any way, shape, or form, justify the near beating to death of a person. Not to mention the feeding frenzy of violence that occurred once the kid was knocked out cold and the group started kicking and stomping an unconscious person. The offense was charged as an aggravated offense because of what occurred AFTER the kid was knocked out. Had they stopped at the point the kid was knocked out, the one Jena 6 kid who knocked him out would have only been charged with misdemeanor assault. But once the kid was knocked out they all lost control of themselves and could not control the urge to attack in a horrifically vicious manner. It's kinda the like the woman who has been beaten by her husband for years who waits in a closet for him to come home from work and she shoots and kills him when he opens the door. No matter how much he may have deserved it, she has committed cold blooded murder.

The whole damn story is a sad situation. Several lives adversely affected over stupid shit and the lack of brains in the f-tards that hung the nooses.

basically just what you ...

basically just what you said in your last sentence is what it all comes down to, stupid kids that didn't think and it got outta hand, they all should be punished was my FIRST thought. some, more than others cuz someone did die.

Crazy crazy unnecessary ...

Crazy crazy unnecessary shit. Mostly about egos.

ooops, no one died but was ...

ooops, no one died but was beat up badly, but even still they should be punished but so should the others too, they all beat up on each other on diff occasions and THAT is why I stay FAR away from those types of hick towns, because they are still livin like it's the 60's, very prejudiced, I don't know how or WHY any blacks would stay there an put up with that shit!! I've NOT been there BUT to other towns like it and I see how it is and was glad I was only passin through!!!

It's absolutely ...

It's absolutely unbelievable how violent an societally destructive todays kids are. No common decency for others or shit belonging to others. Every god damn bit of it is because of the worthless piece of shit parents. THEY ALL should also be punished in this case.

AND WHAT'S SAD IS IT'S THE ...

AND WHAT'S SAD IS IT'S THE YOUNG ONES COMING UP RACIST LIKE THAT! I would have liked to think that by now, by this generation, there would be those types of hate instilled in them now, thought it would have been filtered out, I guess not.

YEAH, WELL WE KNOW IT'S ...

YEAH, WELL WE KNOW IT'S THE PARENTS, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE!

I think todays kids are ...

I think todays kids are sociologically retarded. They only way they know how to deal with others they have a problem with is attack racially. There's no talking about differences anymore, it's straight to violence. WTF happened? Oh yeah, shitty parents. As a whole, todays kids ( all races ) are much more stupid then when we were younger. Their whole drive in life is money and "who is trying to screw me" because of what I look like. Just ask a kid today where they want to be in ten years. None of them say "working as a doctor," or "helping people," or "raising a family." The first thing out of their mouth is "rich." Our kids have lost the focus of living a decent contributing life where people other than ourselves are important. It's the ME ME ME / F**K YOU generation. 100% opposite of where the kids in the 60's were.

that's so true, I hear my ...

that's so true, I hear my own son say he wants us to be rich BUT in the same breath he'll say he wants to be an actor or lawyer so I tell him that if HE wants to have money when HE grows up HE HAS to get the education he needs to get the job he wants. he's only 7 so he's got a lotta growin to do but it's NEVER too early to put them on the right track!

yeah, my mom was a part of ...

yeah, my mom was a part of the "60's" era, graduated high school in '66 and went to college, almost finished but got a real good job with the former South Central Bell, formerly Bellsouth, Now AT&T which she still has today. she said she got luck cuz she filled 2 minority spots by being a black woman. she'll retire soon, she's been there since I was 1yr old! kids these days can't keep a job for 6mos!!!

I think it was spitfire ...

I think it was spitfire who posted this same thread a few weeks ago, but it was a youtube clip.
Wonder what would have happened if the color of their skin was reversed...
I am not trying to be a bitch or racial...but I am white, and even I see how most black or mexican people are treated differently.

I 've noticed that most ...

I 've noticed that most racism is so subtle that white people don't notice it. The most common display is at stores. Four people of color in a line and when a white person gets in the line or looks for an open line, another register is opened. The fact that there were 4 people there before him doesn't matter to him or the clerk. They don't have a clue that what they just did was racially motivated. I've seen just as many black clerks as white ones do this. Everyone take note of this the next time you're in a store.
I have traveled to every state in the eastern half of this country except Florida. Most racism I've found was in the north.
Philadelphia: Stayed the weekend at a Guest Quarters hotel. I told the bellhops in the lobby that we had 3 bags. He offered to let me use one of the carts. They had just taken in bags for a white family before us and did the same for a white couple after us. We went to breakfast the next morning in the hotel and were ask if we had reservations. Then they wanted to know if we were guest at the hotel. The place was empty and I found out later didn't take reservations. The woman told us there would be a half hour wait so we waited in the atrium. out of sight but within earshot. She seated 3 white parties without any of the questions that she asked us. "Four for breakfast? Follow me please " was what they got.
Washington D.C. : Three or four white couples in front of us got "Two for dinner? Right this way. We got "May I help you?" Like we had to be there for something else.
My point is. The white people that were served before or instead of us were probably not racist or at least don't believe they are. The racism happened right under their noses and they never noticed it. Ask these people if these restaurants are racist and they'll probably say "hell no".
I grew up and traveled a lot with my white mother and black father. I don't think I have to tell you guys which parent went to the front desk and which waited in the car when we wanted a motel room.

That is a beautiful tree. ...

That is a beautiful tree. I hate the fact that people stil in this day and time can't get past the color of skin. It is wrong has always been wrong and will always be wrong to judge someone by the skin. I am a bitch and even though I am white or shall I say pale I get tired of seeing people even around here get treated different just b/c of their skin color. I will gladly let someone go ahead of me if they were there first. Those kids did nothing wrong for sitting under the tree. I see alot of things and I don't like what I see anymore. This bullshit needs to stop!

i hope that we, as a ...

i hope that we, as a people, will someday outgrow the need to judge someone by their skin color. but that can only happen when parents and society teach the children that color doesn't matter. what happened was caused by stupid kids who didn't think and escalated because proper action was not taken afterwards. if the school, town, DA, parents etc had come together and let those kids know just how offensive hanging a noose is to black people then maybe this would have not ended as it did. the people of that town have failed their children and it's their fault that this got out of hand. i do believe that those kids (who hung the noose) should be tried, on a federal level, for a hate crime. then the school needs to teach black history to the white kids so that they can SEE why it was hurtful.

WOW, I'm just getting on ...

WOW, I'm just getting on today and I have to say you guys made some GREAT points!! amaretto, great story, walter, LOVED your last sentence above!!

I have too been the victim ...

I have too been the victim of racism. Every time somebody tells me I'm stopping them because they are black, I'm the victim of racism. Many would not think of it as racist but thats exactly that it is. They are saying because I am white, that I'm doing what I'm doing because they are black or hispanic. NOT because they broke the law right in front of me but because I have something against them.Every time somebody tells me I'm doing what ever because they are black / hispanic etc etc I tell them to keep their racist comments to themselves. You know they just about all become dumbfounded by what I said and most actually apologize for being racist. Although I HAVE had black and hispanic people tell me its not possible for them to be racist because they are a minority. LOL !!!!!!

it's a damned if you do ...

it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't type of thing when it comes to race, you please one, you piss off the other, no one's happy!! EVER!!

I'm not prejudiced, I hate ...

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally. :)

Blacks in the county where ...

Blacks in the county where I live have had good reason to accuse cops of being racist. This county is about 15% black yet 40% of tickets for moving violations are handed out to blacks. The county actually paid an independent to do the study 3 years ago. The study was prompted by a white judge from out of state. He found himself in traffic court here and wondered why he was the only white guy there.

Amaretto and Walter.. ...

Amaretto and Walter.. Since yall have both been in the shoes.. My sister in law just married a wonderful guy. Our whole family thinks he is great, except for my father in laws side...who are a bit of old fashioned. They think that because she married a black guy that she will fall into the "my husband beats me" group. I can look at this guy, and he is an absolute lamb, and goesn't look like that he could hurt a fly, but they only say/think that because he is black. She has dated some white guys that her older brothers (one being my husband) beat the crap out of because he raised a hand to her, and that side of the family didn't say a thing!
She knows she will have hardships in their marraige brought on by other people's ignorence, but you would actually think it wouldn't be her family as much as it is outsiders! People just don't evolve the way they should. She is more worried about when they start to have kids, and how the kids will be effected.

My first impression on ...

My first impression on this whole thing was the school principal excusing it as a "childish prank".

This individual should have been hung from his eyeballs!!

Second of all..I find all of us talking in this post about kids doing this out of anger..doing that out of anger.

And we wonder why.

Kid's aren't born angry..we all know that. We just need to question what the hell made them so angry in the first place.

I'm no counselor..and neither are the rest of us. The only thing I can say is that kids that are violent seem to be getting younger and younger...simply due to the face that they're angry with life!!

Sick and tired of nobody paying any attention to them. Sick and tired of playing second best to a mom or dad in a divorce situation that puts their bf/gf first. Sick and tired of feeling like they don't matter....and begging for some sort of attention.

When they don't get that attention..they're sooo angry that they'll do anything to get it!!

At that point they start getting into trouble.

As they're thinking, "What the heck...at least now you're paying attention to me!!

Yet..by that time they're already involved with the wrong people. Kids with parents that just didn't give a damn so they got into the "system" further....and have no problems showing anyone interested "the ropes"

All I can say is, "Where is the parenting in this country??" Pay attention to your children and stop..PLEASE stop using the excuse to your kids that one race is better than the other just because you don't get what you want.

Since WHEN did it make a difference if we were one color or the other?? Color doesn't pay the bills anymore than praying to God makes him listen to one of our prayers over another.

I was raised that the color of someone else's skin didn't make a difference. My parents raised us to believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way.
