Call Center Peeves
This has been posted before but I NEED to vent...I can't stand people who will not listen!
At work we clearly identify ourself when pick up a call "Dr Smith's office how may I help you?" The customer replies: "Is this Dr. Smith's Ofc" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH thats what I just said.
We have a recording letting people know our business hours and yet people will still call to ask our hours!
We'll let a customer know Mike is gone for the day yet a customer will still ask if they can speak to him! Grrrrrrrrr.
People will often call in after hours for medication, the office policy is that only rx's that our major emergencies (ie. insulin or heart medications) can be called out. We explain this over and over and they still don't get it or they'll try to convince us that Vicodin is an emergency RX. DR's won't do afterhours pain pills for insurance liability reasons.
I wanna kill the ones that will call every five minutes to talk to the Dr's. Aghh, I would love to tell these people that the world doesn't revolve around thier own bulbous ass.
I especially hate nurses that will talk down to me or the rest of the staff. They act as though they're better than we are! Well guess what Nasty Francine, you're ONLY a nurse so stick your attitude up your rear end and disappear!
I hate when women calls me honey, baby, sweetheart, or some other term of affection! If I called them by any of those terms they would demand my nuts in a jar!
Ok thats about it, people are irratating the hell outta me today! I feel a little better.

I know how you feel...I used to be a lab assistant in a blood bank. I worked in the transfusion lab at the hospital, getting blood products ready for patients and such. Since the lab ran 24 hours, we were also the emergency contact for the blood bank. I worked 3rd shift and I would get donors calling me at all hours wanting to set up appointments for donations, get lab results, and asking me why they received a notice in the mail that they are not (or no longer) eligible to donate. First off, the people that called for appointments were told simply to call the main center during business hours. The people calling to know if they were HIV positive (most commonly asked) were told that I cannot discuss that info over the phone, they would have to go to the main center during business hours. Then I would get to listen to them raise hell because they "need to know right now." That also took time away from me because we did not give out free HIV tests, someone calling to find out if they were HIV positive usually meant that they donated just for that reason and lied about their personal history......their units are automatically marked for discard, and it was up to me to hunt down the units and get rid of them (that could take anywhere from a few minutes to all night).
Another thing was the nurses and doctors at that hospital. I understand that they would get stressed and yell when they were dealing with a trauma patient who was bleeding to death but the ones who had only a routine order (non-emergency) would get so pissy and bitch me out because they would have to wait while I was trying to prepare 100+ units of platelets, 40+ units of plasma, and 50+ units of red blood cells for the trauma patient. They are the ones I would flat out tell to fuck off (needless to say, I got written up quite often).
No matter where you work, you're going to have to deal with jack-asses and morons because, unfortunately, they're everywhere. Hang in there!!!!

I hate people who call me ...
I hate people who call me by some pet name. I leave it up to you to try this one on those who do it to you. Ask them if they have called the wrong number. When they want to know why you would ask that question, tell them that since they asked to speak to honey or baby or sweetheart, you thought they might have been trying to reach their husband or boyfriend. Do this at your own risk.

I can handle the people on the phone wanting to see the doctor..IMMEDIATELY!! Ya learn to muddle through the crap and find the ones that are urgent.
What I COULDN'T handle Wednesday afternoon was the surgical nurse!!
It's HER job to decide what really is an urgent surgery..and what isnt'..which was fine with me.
As the patient's mom was standing at the window...our surgical nurse was proceeding to "bad mouth" her off to the side as I'm TRYING to help this woman!!
I kindly went over to the surgical nurse and said, "I don't mean to interrupt..but the surgery you're speaking about is right outside..."
The surgical nurse turned to me and said, "Besides RUDELY interrupting me..(I felt like saying...shut up shut up shut up!!..as the parent was a concerned parent..and within earshot of everything the surgical nurse was saying!!)..it's like she never heard what I was saying as she said, "Like I give a freaking DAMN what the mother is saying at this point..get out of my face..and for the record..WHY is this YOUR concern??!!"
For the love of God..what a bitch!!
As the parent heard everything she was saying she said, "I'm sorry to be such a pain..but this is my DAUGHTER we're talking about..."
I wanted to crawl into a hole and felt like referring her to the surgical nurse who made no qualms about the mother just being a complete and total pain in her ass...as she continued to bad mouth the mother and give ME dirty looks!!
People are definately ...
People are definately stupid and do not listen. They also think that only THEIR problem is important or urgent and that they are somehow better than everyone else. People should think about others for once and get an education so that they can understand what is being said to them the first time!
