yeah, I wonder WHO comes up with these "bright" ideas and WHY??

Well we ARE only getting ...

Well we ARE only getting one side of the story, the childs side. Obviously the girl will minimize what she did. I’m not saying she IS minimizing but one must certainly look at that possibility before passing judgment upon the school official. A hug is NOT a display of affection. If the hug involved a bit more than a simple hug than it would most likely violate the rules. We all don’t have to like the rules but should follow them nonetheless. There are several laws I don’t agree with but I must enforce them. There are laws I don’t agree with but I must follow them. It’s called adapting to what is acceptable in the terms of the entity or people that decided what would be acceptable for a certain time and place. I see kids in the halls at our high school when I go there that appear to be hugging. However, a closer look reveals MUCH more than a simple hug. They are touching each other where they shouldn’t be touching; they are passing drugs, cigarettes, stolen property etc etc. I would have to talk to whoever witnessed the “hug” to get an idea of what they found inappropriate about it. I would say a simple hug should be no reason for harsh punishment.

you have a good point ...

you have a good point Slappy...never even thought it could be for any reason other than just what it appeared to be.
