WHERE WERE THE PARENTS?!?!?!
So, my wife & I went out for dinner (anniversary and all), and it was a nice restaurant (California Pizza or something like that). Anyway, at the back of the place, there were about 5 or 6 girls (I REALLY want to say women, but read on). They were all laughing and having an apparent good time.
But then, things changed; suddenly they started singing 'hppy Birthday' to one of their party. No problem, right? WRONG!!! We didn't mind that they were out of tune, most people can't sing in a group anyway, that was fine. However, and keep in mind this restaurant, while not full, still had a goodly number of people dining, including a mix of families and the elderly. A normal restaurant mixture, just so you can picture the atmosphere. But, I digress. Where was I? Oh yes, the singinging:

You get the idea, and they sang this 'nice' song for what felt like twenty verses!!! WHO brought these young 'ladies' up? I shake my head when I see what Lohan or Spears does in the media, but THIS, this was well, embarassing for me to hear, especially with my wife in the room!!!
At the end of our meal, our waiter brought us an aniverfasry dessert AND THESE GIRLS STARTED SINGING THE SAME SONG AGAIN!!! I found myself holding my butter knife in my hand (in the fashion a knife thrower holds) when my wife gently placed her hand on mine and just shook her head!
WHERE WERE THEIR PARENTS?!?!? I couldn't see them, but Francesca told me they were also using the overhead lamp to swing back and forth to highlight whomever was singing! WHERE WERE THEIR PARENTS?!?!?
Even when the store manager came over at the end of our meal, she even noted that back where she was from (St. Louis, MO), parents would never let their children out acting that way. I didn't even have the heart to tell her it is a symptom of our country today, that parents are afraid to raise their kids correctly from fear of the state taking their kids away and throwing the parent in jail. But, she was right; parents today are NOTHING like the parents WE were raised with. MY mother, even TODAY would not hesitate to WHIP MY ARSE if she even THOUGHT I was acting like those girls, AND I AM ALMOST 40 YEARS OLD!!!
Aside from that incident, we had a nice time out.

Why was the management so spineless that they didn't ask these idiots to either calm down or leave?
Sounds like a complaint to the owners of the business is in order. Try it, it works. Do it by snail mail. In every case when I have done this I have received an apology and in most cases a gift certificate for free meals.
In one case I complained to a waitress about two women and their brats who were making real fools of themselves in a restaurant, with no concern about others (food fight!!!). She replied that they were the owner's daughters and grandchildren. I complained to the owner who responded that he had now banned them from the restaurant. The next time I was there, I asked the waitress and she replied that they came in when they thought their father wasn't there (he was in the kitchen watching them). He confronted them in the restaurant in front of the customers and ordered them out, telling them that they were now no longer permitted in the building at any time and that all his staff had been advised to call the police, if they came in when he was not there.

But seriously, there are ways to teach our children WITHOUT leaving scars, either physical or emotional. If you don't realize that I feel very sorry for you for you have been victimized not TAUGHT.
TEACHING A LESSON DOES NOT have to involve PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL HARM. ONLY the ignorant, those who have unfortunately, not necessarily by any fault of their own, believe that some form of mild or worse pain, even torture, is the only way to teach a lesson.
There are techniques that work and work well which include nothing more than the right words and RESTRAINT. When a child acts up it is because they want a response and when you give them what they want by acting out, like a CHILD YOURSELF, YOU - YOU lower yourself to that IMMATURE Level.
It takes wisdom and maturity and MUCH Patience to properly raise a child. Simply Perpetuating a CYCLE OF VIOLENCE proves NOTHING other than that YOU are as bad as a child, immature, unwise and impatient. It is destructive and downright dangerous.
Learn better. Stop teaching others that whipping the shit out of a defenseless child is in any way anything other than a pathetic shortcoming of an ignorant parent. PROMOTE THE RIGHT WAY. You know NOTHING Whatsoever about how those girls were raised and yet you think that the only reason they act the way they do is because they weren't HURT? Get that out of your head. You know NOTHING about how they were raised, NOTHING. Making such a judgment is UNARGUABLY Ignorant. So get a grip. Promote proper parenting if you want to see youngsters grow up with manners. There is a decent way to do so which does NOT include a much more physically powerful adult, their own parent, inflicting harm. It is sad that you and so many others have not realized that and think the only way to get a child to behave is to abuse them with harsh words or by beating them.
