This is generating a LOT of talk around here and Baton Rouge as well, as you can see.  I agree with most of what the "main guy" is talking about, but THEN there are the A$$HOLES behind him puttin in their 2 cents, which I wouldn't even call it ONE cent worth!  Some people REALLY shouldn't DRINK and TALK!!

I feel basically the same ...

I feel basically the same way. Welfare and transitional assistance ARE meant to be temporary, people shouldn't be able to sit on thier butts.

Yeah, the drinking only ...

Yeah, the drinking only exacerbated the situation. But I do agree with some of the points mentioned.

You will NOT find a less ...

You will NOT find a less prejudiced person than me and I deplore the N word used t there. I also know there are certainly some in the projects who do not choose to be there and would love to get out. However, I have seen and heard first hand how many are there by choice as stated, for generations and proud of it. It IS supposed to be transitional housing. It is NOT supposed to be "whitey" paying them back forever for something that no one in my family's history ever did to them! And yet I am treated that way as if I owe something. No one in my family EVER got a break for being white. To the contrary, both my older and younger brother had straight A's through their ENTIRE grade school careers and were unable to get into their first choice Ivy League colleges absolutely because of reverse discrimination known as "affirmative action". None of us are bitter. They both went to a fine pseudo ivy league school, Haverford College, paid entirely by them and my parents, and have done very well. But something is wrong there. I have sat in the MVA (Motor Vehicle Administration) building for a license (and for my son's learner's permit the other day for HOURS only to be treated by smug blacks filing their nails (literally) and cracking their gum and rolling their eyes and making us wait unnecessarily for all that time and treating us like we were scum when we finallllly get to the front of the line (there were whites there too and they treated EVERYONE fine!) only because we were white. We watched as the blacks there were treated well. I did NOTHING to these people and the word is that they can NOT be fired because they are black. I can not imagine how ANYONE treating anyone else the way they treated us could not be fired on the spot. And again, I am the LEAST prejudiced person you would ever fined! Prejudice however means pre-judging. I don't pre-judge but I do judge. I will judge anyone of any color or size or gender or religion or anything based on nothing else but how they treat me. If all small people treated me this way, if all tall people treated me this way, if all females or males treated me this way, I would KNOW the same thing about them - they are WRONG to do so. It IS as simple as that.

Public housing is NOT for drug dealing but that is how so many here also see it. They have stated outright in public that they don't want it destroyed because it would destroy their business and that they see it as their birthright to conduct such business because "that is all they can do because whitey has made it that way". I've heard it and will never forget it. They looked just as ridiculous as the drunk white boys in that video. Both are wrong, both hate the other for real reasons and the problem will only be solved when there are more incentives to get out of that housing, more disincentives or limits to remaining in it.

that was supposed to be ...

that was supposed to be "find" not "fined".

And, for anyone who didn't know, I'm white.

I also want to say how I've grown up with people of all races, religions, many nationalities and hold nothing against anyone for anything unless they do me wrong. Those workers at the MVA robbed me of a LOT of time and were smug and arrogant. I can only imagine how much pain their ancestors must have had to endure. I grieve for the victims of lynchings etc. and adore people like B.B. King who had to enter venues through the back door and who had only a bucket for a restroom if they were lucky, often it was the outdoors. Whites only entrances and facilities were the norm. But that has nothing to do with me or my family or the blacks these days. There have been opportunities galore, even for those with weak grades while straight A students paying full tuition couldn't get a break and were relegated to lesser education and career oportunties as a result of "affirmative action" when many of them had nothing to do with ANY discrimination, nor did their families.

Public housing in my town is mixed in with all other housing. That was the genius of James Rouse. It worked for the most part. I have had friends growing up who I didn't know at first came from money or not, some not, not at all. I learned from it, they learned from it, and everyone was better off. It's when you put all of one type (the richer or the poorer) together that you breed problems. Learn about Jim Rouse and his plan. He was a saint. Only when this town was being built and the federal funds were at risk, because the public housing promised wasn't being built fast enough, so it was suddenly thrown together quickly in a couple of our villages more condensed than before, did it begin to not work as well. That proved Rouse's vision was right. Blend the different folks together and the differences dissipate. Keep them together in rich ghettos and poor ghettos and you only get more of the same attitudes every time.

Well said Whitey.
