A little input would be great!!
So I'm starting my shopping for a new vehicle. I'm getting a truck, and nothing is going to change my mind on that. This winter in my Subaru was scary, and I'd rather pay more money towards gas then have a fuel efficient coffin.
I was going to get an 06 or 07, but after pricing some vehicles I think I might end up with an 08. I have it narrowed down as well. It's going to be either a Dodge Ram, Chevy Silverado, or Toyota Tundra. I found that the Ram and Silverado are close in price, but the Tundra seems to be much more expensive. I haven't gone for any test drives yet, I want to get the specs and references first, then do a test drive.
If any of you peevers have any input let me know!!!

are you getting a 4 wheel ...
are you getting a 4 wheel drive then?
My b/f says the Toyata Tundra is a good truck.
But hes actually a Ford guy..so....lol

I've got a bil who ONLY buys Tundras. He's had two and has only great things to say about them.
i owned a toyota shortbed ...
i owned a toyota shortbed pu and loved it. i got rid of it when it hit 350,000 miles and bought another one. it was used with only 40,000 miles. unfortunately, i only had it a year when my son borrowed it then fell asleep at the wheel an rolled it. he was fine but the truck was a loss. i didn't have complete coverage because after 45 years of driving i have never had an accident. sooooo, i am now driving a used ford escort i bought from my boss and when my son sells his house he is going to give me the price of my truck - which i will then use to buy another toyota. btw: the one i sold now has over 400,000 miles and is still going strong but is now burning a little oil. LOL

I bought a new dodge ...
I bought a new dodge p/u and had nothing but trouble, got rid of it for a new Nissan Frontier 4X4 Nismo, and would get rid of my old lady before I would part with my Nismo.....The Titan is larger and more expensive, but if you haul several people, I would highly recommend it....As for the silverado, my co-worker bought one, and within six months it was in the shop for a new steering column, and transmission troubles... tundra? you could not go wrong with toyota....
You guys all rule!! If you ...
You guys all rule!! If you think of anything else over the next couple weeks let me know! Thank you so much for all the input. I will keep it in mind when I'm out shopping.
yeah Toyotas are the best, ...
yeah Toyotas are the best, I had a corolla brand new back in 92 and I'd STILL have it now if I hadn't wrecked it and it was 10 yrs old when I wrecked it with almost 200,000 miles on it! Now I have a Tahoe, and I love it too. Toyotas are a little more pricey BUT worth it.

dodges suck, several ...

basically any Chrysler product my husb says SUCK.

Funny that trucks are ...
Funny that trucks are OK while any car seems to be to you "a fuel efficient coffin" when the statistics year after year prove cars to be far safer. You say nothing will change your mind and I believe you. You have the right to go against logic if you must but please don't go around telling others something that is not true and which could cause them harm or death. Driving a truck or SUV truck is FAR FAR MORE DANGEROUS.
Just look around this area during or after one of our ice storms like the one we're having today and ALL you will see EVERYWHERE on the sides of roads, in ditches, wrapped around telephone poles and trees, in little pieces and sitting upside down on their roof with their wheels up in the air or on their side are SUV after SUV after SUV. I have literally seen over 100 of them between here (Columbia, MD) and Bel Air, MD and on the return trip during one particularly trecherous storm several years back. There was not a single car, only SUV's and Pick ups.
The truck and SUV drivers are overconfident cocky assholes who think they can do anything, go anywhere in any conditions. They obviously don't know about higher center of gravity or don't care. They obviously don't know about greater required stopping distance or don't care. They don't care about the condition of their tires that's soooo expensive, hundreds of dollars more for EACH tire so why bother, they have a truck after all, who needs tire tread?
In that storm, the worst ever at the time, the worst EVER in recorded history, I had no problems. I was driving a small sub compact two wheel drive. But I drove in 2nd gear the whole way except for on exit ramps where I used 1st. I drove a maximum of 10-15mph on the 65mph limit highway while the morons flew past me and I watched them carreen into the embankments. I left them there. I had to. It was too dangerous to try and stop and help each one. It was dangerous enough being out there at all where no emergency vehicles were even able to go so there'd be no rescue if I needed it. I needed to get home and I was doing so slowly but steadily, not going to let some morons' problems put ME in any more danger than they Already had by being out there doing 35mph, 45mph and some I swear were going over 50!!!! I saw their tracks leading into the woods, no vehicle visible!!!!!!!!! The HELL if I was going to risk my life for them. They got what they asked for, EXACTLY what they deserved. On any normal day with a normal wreck, I stop. I've helped people often, one who was just in the wreck, sitting strapped to his seat belt and hanging upside down, all the cars in front of me had stopped and I had to suddenly stop and his wheels were still spinning so it must have just happened. He was bleeding from the hand but nowhere else and no one else who stopped was talking to him, getting his name, asking if he was hurt, keeping him calm, letting him know to stay put help is on the way, asking if he had any medical allergies or health problems (he could easily have passed out and the rescuers and doctors will need to know these things) I even asked if anyone else had been in the car (they could have been ejected and we'd need to know, we meaning anyone helping). No one else did any of this. I did. I help people when I can. NOT this time in the ice storm though. It was IDIOTIC what all those SUV's and trucks were doing, their drivers that is. They're FAR FAR BEYOND STUPID and SELFISH to be driving anything over 10mph on those ramps, 15 on the highway. I watched cars doing 360º's and 540º's but I kept a straight line. I went slower. 5-15mph was the solution along with good tires and low gear.
When I saw those fool bastards in the ditches and trees I did not stop to help. I called it in and 911 said that even THEY could not send help right away but would put them on the list with all of the others. The radio stations and TV stations were all begging people, the state officials, were begging people to stay off the streets. SUV after SUV driver went dashing out flying along and crashing. I just went along like the little engine that could and got where I was going and back without a problem. No high center of gravity. That's dangerous. No overconfidence. That's dangerous and what the truck and SUV drivers alllll seem to have. And no bad tires because they cost hundred$$$$ more for Each One. That's another endemic SUV trait. Nope, just common sense is what it takes, not a larger vehicle. That is one thing that has been proven to be exactly opposite of the intent of the buyers even though they have the same resources available. They all think, like smokers about cancer, "it won't happen to me" and there are hundreds and hundreds of those "me's" who all thought it wouldn't be that "me" it'd be some other "me" who is right now today in a ditch on the roads around here, again. They never learn.
Fords are your cheapest, I've
Fords are your cheapest, I've owned 2 Dodge Dakota's. Extremely pleased with both.

how to buy a truck above link @ about.com.
Also had a small foreign truck. They handle a bit different from cars. Drive slowly until you get good at handling it.
I have an O7 Chevy Silverado
I have an O7 Chevy Silverado and I love it. It is a crew cab and gets 20 mpg. It has more room in it then the Tundra we looked at the Tundra but there were a lot features on the Silverado then any other truck. If I was you I would get the Silverado. By far the best truck in the business even Motor Trend has named it best truck of the year. I have one and it is great. As far as truck being far more dangerous is just a liberal lie. My insurance on my daughter was much cheaper to put her on the truck then it was my car. I asked the insurance people about it and that is because persanal injury is far less on a truck or Suv then it is a car period.
I will take my insurance companies word then I would any other people. Matter of fact the insurance is cheaper on my truck then my car just for that reason.
