My Bank

Peeve of the day is our local Credit Union. It sucks.

1. You can NOT use your debit card ONLINE. AT ALL. I have tried and tried, but each time it tells be that it can not be authorized. WTF?

2. If you have to make an emergency run to Wal-mart, or pay for a tab at a bar anytime between 11:30pm -1:00am, you are screwed. It will say it has been declined. This is the time frame in which they "update" their systems. Seems like to me it should be done from, oh, I don't know, let's say 2am-4am, or even 3am-4am..wouldn't that be smarter? People are in bed, and the Aluminum plant is on shift until 8am. So not much is going on in town! I have been in Walmart for medicine in the middle of the night, and had my card declined on a PAYDAY night, because of this stupid crap!

3. I tried to set up a Pay Pal account a while back. Nope, no can do. I can do an e-check through pay pal, but my bank won't let them authorize my debit through pay pal. Hopefull the guy I just bought something from will work with me...hopefully.

4. Their "cap" on spending is $250 a day. So say you are out shopping, and spend $250 already, and need gas to get home. Looks like your walking, cause your card sure as hell isn't going to work!

**We have an account with Wells Fargo that hasn't been used in 6 years, but I am really thinking of starting to put money in it and re-order debit cards!!! Or at least transfer money to it from this account at a small town bank. That way I know my stuff gets paid, and I can use my money when ever I want!

Oooh, Mandy, it sounds ...

Oooh, Mandy, it sounds like you have had a lovely day in the world of financial matters, as have I! I think if I knew I had money in the account and my card was declined, I would BE ALL UP IN THE CU'S FACE! My sister, who ALWAYS has LOTS of money in her account, went to Wally one day and her card was declined. Knowing that she had about $2k in her account, as she most always does, she went home, called the bank, and told them how embarrassing and frustrating that was to have her card declined. She went on to tell them that it had better not happen again, or she and her husband would move all of their accounts to another bank.

The bank verified that, yes, she did have the funds, but they had been having computer problems that caused her card to be declined.

THAT'S the PITS!! I would ...

THAT'S the PITS!! I would NEVER put up with that!!!

All Credit Unions have to ...

All Credit Unions have to have an annual meeting. Since you are a member, you have the right to speak about your concerns at that meeting. You may have to contact them prior to the meeting in order to be put on the agenda. You will probably find that you are one of many members who all have the same concerns. Since they are supposed to be there to serve their members (unlike a bank which is just a large corporation) they have to listen. Sounds as if you have a bunch of old goats on the board of directors who still feel they have a right to rule peoples lives. This board has to stand for re-election (usually not all at the same time, but some of them every year) and a threat by the members to have a shake up, may get some action.

Credit Unions suck!! ...

Credit Unions suck!! Besides the restrictions they place on cardholders they will nickel, dime & dollar you to death with fees and penalties. It's crazy! Why don't you go to another bank/ Bank of America - free checking, free ATM, online banking - same with wachovia . Good luck!

eek, sorry to hear about ...

eek, sorry to hear about that. i think its time to change banks.

Bof A only offers free ...

Bof A only offers free checking if you do direct deposit. They happen to forget to mention that on the commercials. I know b/c that is who I bank with and when I was out of work for that year and didn't have anything coming in they were quick to snatch the $7 - $10 monthly maintenence fee.

i hate how it takes DAYS ...

i hate how it takes DAYS for purchases to clear but an overdraft fee is hit within hours of the overdrafting purchase. *sigh* stupid banks.

We don't get nickle and ...

We don't get nickle and dime'd there for anything. What you have in your savings account somehow = how many shares in the credit union you have, and you get a monthly divident posted to your account. Everything else sucks!!!!

Banks/credit unions can be ...

Banks/credit unions can be SUCH a pain in the ass sometimes!!

My sister takes all the incoming calls for a credit union and they had system problems on Christmas Eve!! This meant that NONE of their customer's were able to use their debit cards..withdraw money from the ATM, etc., until the system problem was fixed!! To add to the problem, many of the businesses where people were writing checks at had the policy where the individual writes the check and it gets taken out of the person's account right away..so even a check wasn't good due to the system problem!

Can you imagine having to shop on Christmas Eve to begin with..getting lucky enough to find what you were looking for..(or something close to it)..getting to the checkout lane..only to find out that your debit card/check...(nothing short of cash!!)...doesn't work??!!

OH..MY...GAWD!!

While you stand there with the item in your hand..afraid to put it back because YOU KNOW someone else is gonna grab it in a heartbeat while YOU wait for the stupid bank's system to get fixed??!

Imagine all these p** off people standing around in your store (hanging onto that item they found for dear life!) waiting for their bank to fix their stupid system...or for YOU to fix YOURS??

Yikes!!

My sister said the phones were ringing OFF THE HOOK with unhappy customers ALL DAY LONG while she had to keep up her "happy voice" saying, "I'm very sorry for your inconvenience sir/ma'am but our system techs are working as fast as they can on the problem.." Most of the people didn't even let her finish.."I'll tell you what you can do with your ^%$#@#$^* system..when's it gonna be fixed??"

And you guys thought YOU had a bad day at the credit union!!

WOWWW -- THAT would send ...

WOWWW -- THAT would send me out of my mind! I am SO glad that didn't happen to me -- I probably would have had a psychotic episode, lol! It's really not funny -- I probably would have!
