Not that this makes any difference about how I feel...
BUT, since I have been thinking about it a lot lately, I thought I would ask what your religious denomination is. I am a Baptist girl -- I have a slew of brothers and sisters. Only one left the Baptist faith to join the Pentecostal church.
For those of you who "practice" your faith, what are some of the activities and events that your family participates in? And what is best memory you have of "structured" worship with others?
Our family is really involved in the youth ministry, choir and praise team, and I am actively involved in our ladies' ministry. My best memory of corporate worship is when we had a guest musician whose voice was so flawless, so clear and pure, that you felt like you were just about to see JESUS!

I know what you mean! We are hearing more "feel good" sermons from a lot of pastors than we are the true word of God. It is sad because an entire generation is being lost from the church.
I'm sure you have a plethora of television preachers from which to choose, but in case you ever want to check him out, try www.firstbossier.com and listen to Fred Lowery. He's awesome, and he preaches the Word.

I'm sure you've mentioned this before, but how close are you to San Diego? I have a friend whose son is an associate pastor at a church there.

well, born and raised Catholic here and 12 YEARS of school to prove it, LOL!! my kids and husband was/are being raised the same way as well, but sadly we aren't very involved in church. we go, but NOT religiously (pun intended). my oldest goes to a public school so she gets catechism every Sun. to keep up with her religion and my other 2 go to catholic school. my son just made his first Communion and my daughter SHOULD have made her Confirmation since she was in 8th grade the past year but the archbishop in all his wisdom changed the grade to 11th grade for them to make Confirmation. so I told her I'd let it be her choice if she wants to continue with catechism for 3 more years in order to do so. but the lady at St. Maria Goretti said that enrollment drops off sharply after 8th grade since the change was made from 8th to 11th.

born and raised catholic (though we didnt go to church hardly ever growing up). i went to ccd, went through communion and was confirmed, and went to catholic high school. i never had a strong faith. never really believed in anything specific. as i got older, i was more into being a decent person rather than believing in what the bible told me. to me, its just a book full of stories. i think studying buddhism would be awesome but i just have no interest in following anything specific.

I was born and raised Catholic. Did the same stuff as conana only I didn't go to a Catholic school. I didn't enjoy it, it was very dry I guess you could say. There was nothing to be excited about, it was quite depressing to me I would say. Ya know I never really looked back on it at all, since I gave it up. And the weddings were HORRIBLE!!! Oh man were they bad.... Yeah I don't miss it.
I believe in something somewhere somehow, but I haven't decided what.
conana - I want to learn Buddhism too, maybe it has something to do with growing up catholic?

Raised Primitive Baptist. ...
Raised Primitive Baptist. Converted to Catholic 18 years ago. Go to Mass on Sundays because I enjoy it. (A 1 hour Mass sure beats the 2 hour preaching of my childhood ---LOL!) Make a Holy Hour once a week to recharge my spiritual batteries.
I have noticed over the years that many Protestant services have become more ritualized and Masses have become more lax. I laugh because I can tell who is a convert at church. We are the ones singing the hymns by heart!
We have been involved in Cursillo, CCD, RCIA, Knights of Columbus, etc. My husband is 4th Degree and on the honor guard to stand at funerals. Come Fall I will be the librarian for our school St. Alphonsus.
Worship is like anything else in your life. You get out of it what you put into it.
