My Peeve is a short one...
I hate it when my family says that I shouldn't eat something. They think my Diabetes means I shouldn't eat sugary things and other foods, it just peeves me to no end! I can eat those things in controlled amounts.

My brother is going ...

My brother is going through that. He was just diagnosed a couple of months ago and now he's dealing with it when he feels his blood sugar go down and he needs to up it. I told him to say "I'm trying to regulate my blood sugar. I've upped mine, now up yours!". lol

It was very aggravating when I was pregnant and people would lecture me on what to eat. You'd think people would learn that you don't take Doritos out a pregnant woman's mouth!

Hahaha! NEVER take food ...

Hahaha! NEVER take food away from a woman...pregnant or not. By doing so you are releasing the demons from hell that will reign terror on your nutsack.

HA!

HA!

Just tell them to do ...

Just tell them to do research on it and they will see that you are fine eating what you eat and that you wouldn't eat it if it was going to do harm to you..

and rememeber, as ...

and rememeber, as aggravating as it is, they are just concerned for you! So just smile and say..I know!

It is probably because ...

It is probably because they care AND we have always been told that sugar causes diabetes! At least that is what I had drilled into my head, and that results in thinking people with diabetes can't eat sugar. Lack of knowledge on the subject!

I agree they do care but ...

I agree they do care but it can get annoying sometimes. as long as YOU know your limitations and don't cross the line, you'll be fine!

It really can be ...

It really can be confusing. I've always heard that being overweight can cause type 2 and I don't see anything that contradicts that when looking around online a little. I did however see a bunch of sites that say sugar isn't bad. That's one reason it's so confusing since sugar is so often one of the major causes of excess weight gain. And, as if that isn't confusing enough, the Very SAME sites go on to say that it's best to watch the sugar intake very carefully, restrict it as much as possible, substitute, eat smaller portions and on and on. If that isn't enough to make one's head spin I don't know what is. I mean (and please forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong) but isn't diabetes all about the body's inability to process sugar because it is no longer able to properly regulate the insulin required for that? I know some diabetics and they are extremely careful about eating anything with high sugar content, especially things with refined sugar and very little in the way of any good nutrients. They say tell me you can not simply eat whatever you want and then go take medication to counter the effects. I've also seen zero episodes of any kind ever in these people. It's so strange because I literally forget they have diabetes! One is actually on his way over here right now, a photographer who shot a job with me recently and we're going to blend our images together, edit, renumber them and go out for dinner while some of the longer automated processes are running. I'll watch more closely what he eats. He never makes an issue of it, eats what's right and never has one single complication. I'll have to take note of whether that includes anything sugary. I do remember one time we got snowballs at a stand. I guess a lot also has to do with the severity of the diabetes as well as which type it is. I sure wouldn't blame the family for being concerned though. It can be quite confusing and I'm sure they express their concern because they are caring and loving and do not want anything bad to happen to you.

I heard that somewhere ...

I heard that somewhere once before about how taking Doritos out of a pregnant woman's mouth can cause all kinds of defects such as brain damage and infertility -
to the taker that is when they're punched in the face or kicked in the balls! LOL!
