Roommate Update

I put the dishes in the dishwasher and asked him to turn it on when he was leaving for work that day. He says to me "there's not a full load though, it's a waste of water"... to which I said "If you want to save water then do them while you're home not working all week instead of letting them stack up for days on end". When I got home: Clean Dishes!!!!

He and I had a "discussion" about his job as well... He started to tell me a story (although he was basically complaining) this weekend (GOD I HATE WORK TALK ON WEEKENDS). I told him if he was that unhappy there he needed to REALLY try to find something else. No sleeping and computer games and walks in the dog park. I told him if he really wanted a new job he was going to have to hunt for it like he doesn't have a job right now. Which could be happening soon...

So he brought home a boiler from work, it was used on a job but was still in working condition. He said (in front of coworkers) that he was going to fix it up and sell it for a few hundred bucks. Well his boss had caught wind of this and told him he had to bring the boiler back to their shop, that he legally had no right to take it. He spent quite a bit of time trying to convince me his boss was in the wrong. Then I reminded him that I had to deal with office law in the past, and that he may not have his job much longer. Apparently he didn't realize taking something from work and using it for personal gain was a conflict of interest and abuse of his position. It took a little while for it to sink into his head, but I think now he's realizing he could lose his job and never work in that field again. He was asking me "what if my boss signs something saying I can use it in my house then I sell it" - I said "umm that's illegal, if your boss says you can use it in your house it damn well better be in your house next time the boss comes over". He was trying to say that being the customer said he could have it, that meant that he as a person could. I had to explain to him that while he was working on the clock, he was an employee of that company and any deals he made were company deals.

I just hope all goes well until I leave... *sigh* August 1st seems so far away..
