Stupid arm

Last saturday I spent almost the entire day gardening, mowing the lawn, shoveling, raking, etc. Sunday morning my arms, legs, back, and shoulder hurt real bad. Obviously. But now, almost a week later, my right arm and shoulder still hurt. The top part of my forearm hurts when I flex, even when I crack my fingers (which I have learned to stop doing, lol). My shoulder feels like it was pulled too hard and needs to stay close to my body to relieve the pain. Even typing and using the mouse makes my arm hurt. WTF? Shouldn't simple muscle pain from gardening have gone away by now? The rest of my body has been fine since Monday but this arm is persistant.

Thanks guys. I'll check ...

Thanks guys. I'll check out some of those remedies. It still hurts. It's fine when just resting. But once I turn my wrist or use the muscle in some way it hurts. It's like when you are working out and the muscle burns from doing too many reps. I'm just suprised it still hurts after a week.

Conona, you pushed too ...

Conona, you pushed too hard for too long! You are NOT as young as you think! Try re-hydrating ALOT (no, alcohol does NOT count!). also, a little light stretching won't hurt (well, at THIS point it will, but it will be a 'good' pain!)

Damn, no booze. ...

Damn, no booze. :-(

I'll suck down a lot of water this weekend and see if that helps. I've been doing light stretches, but maybe I'm not doing them right. I don't know. Stupid, old body.

Thanks walter for the advice. You rock my socks!

Putt a heating pad on it ...

Putt a heating pad on it at night for awhile and during the day try using icy hot.

Apply heat. Moist heat it ...

Apply heat. Moist heat it best. It helps and not just with the pain. Heat improves blood circulation. That is one thing that you want to do for sure because without a doubt it will make you feel a lot better and help prevent more pain.

Also, find glucosomine condroitin in your local Walmart right there under the letter G in the vitamin section. You don't need the brand name stuff at a few times the price. Just get the generic (cost is about a lousy $3-4 a bottle). It works and it works well with lubricating joints and it sure seemed to help me with an NCL which seems more like what it sounds like you have just in a different location. Ligaments and muscles also need certain vitamins. Be sure you're getting a good balanced diet. It can make all the difference, especially when you're physically active. I play tennis at least 2-3 times a week for an hour and a half or more every week of the year and I've noticed a huge improvement in not just my game but in my ability to bounce back physically afterwards when I eat better or at least take the "daily" vitamin that I all too often forget to take.

Conanabana, my joints ache ...

Conanabana, my joints ache on a regular basis, but getting "old" does that. My Dr. prescribed Lodine for me, and it truly is a miracle drug, at least in my case. Down side is you must get a prescription for it. The generic (Etodolac) is less expensive and works just fine. However, for pulled tendons and so on I would recommend R&R and that should "cure" you...( I don't see how a little brandy would hurt, I consider it medicinal and keep a good supply on hand, but Walter may have something lol!)

You probably over stressed ...

You probably over stressed a muscle and it's gonna take some time to heal. Icy hot stinks to high heaven but if you put warm moist heat on it (a damp towel covered with a dry one and then a heating pad)..that should relax your muscles.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!! :)
