Funeral Peeves

My aunt died and her funeral was today. Rest in Peace, pretty lady!

Here are the things that pissed me off:

In Michigan it's a tradition to pull over to the side of the road to allow the procession to pass. About a third of the people just drove straight on, showing an utter lack of respect. I kept my cool and didn't stick my finger out the window at each and everyone of them. In hindsight thats what she would have done, so maybe It wouldn't have been a bad thing.

My Aunt's ex-husband, which everyone in the family depises, decided to "crash the party" he was quickly escorted out. The jerk stole half of her money before leaving her and just waltzes in to her funeral? Screw him, he's lucky the red neck half of my family didn't beat the life outta him.

We had a lady who coughed through the entire service! She should have stayed home or just come for the visitation then left.

My Rave about it all:

The service was fantastic, the employees at the funeral home were friendly and professional, making a difficult time a little easier.

They had an a video introspection of her life playing on a plasma TV, it was really well done and not cheesy like you usually see.

OMG I'm sorry to hear ...

OMG I'm sorry to hear about all this! First off, my condolences for your loss. Where I was born and raised (Pennsylvania) they always pulled over for a funeral procession, it always amazed me to see it, and the one time people had to do it for my family it really sunk in how LONG that single ride can be. I think driving from the church to the cemetery was the longest ride in my life...

That's insane her ex showed up, maybe he was feeling some guilt for what he did and felt the need to show up? And OH YEAH the coughing lady.... I had one of them at my brothers memorial service - and I remember her more then anything else.

Glad the service was nice, and again, my condolences for your loss!

some people really have ...

some people really have nerve and NO RESPECT!! and I'm sorry too for your loss! the rednecks SHOULD have beat him up! LOL!

I'm sorry for your loss. ...

I'm sorry for your loss. *hugs and bigger hugs*

Now to your rant....DAMN! Her EX showed up! What an ass. At least he was escorted out right away.

And I've never seen anyone pull over for the funeral. I'm from Illinois. I move to the other lane if possible, but I've never seen anyone actually pull over. Maybe it's a regional thing.

May God bless you during ...

May God bless you during this difficult time as you and your family are in all our thoughts and prayers..

Some people just have NO have to get past that the long'll probably make you laugh in the future.....

God's Blessings!!

Its a long way to drive half

Its a long way to drive half way on the wrong side of the road all the way to the funeral home.

Condolences For Your Loss

To the OP, I am extremely sorry for your loss.  We live in a day and age where we need loved ones for then ever.  Not only does it hurt and peeve us when they die, but these people never did any harm.  First of all, to the disrespectful drivers who could not pull over to the side of the road, I hope something very nasty happened to each and every one of them.  Second, each and every driver who drove through the funeral procession like that should be ticketed and/or jailed.  No one should ever do that.  Third, at least the staff (I am assuming everyone from the musician, if he/she was good, to the financial people) at the funeral home were good to you.  However, if I were an employee of the funeral home or something, I would kick her out of there in a hurry.  This world needs more discipline, not just the USA.  To cough like that during a deeply painful time like that is arrogant.  I bet you she was trying not to laugh.  Who knows.
